DLD08 UPLOADING THE 21st CENTURY

After getting up at some ungodly time this morning we finally arrived in Munich. Lufthansa didn’t refresh us with a sandwich so we had do get lunch before proceeding to the conference center. Let’s see if DLD really has that much in stock as we expect it to. 30 minutes to go before the conference will start.
“We are all friends!” Beautiful, it’s sooo great to be here. Honestly it really is, but the opening speech is something that you should certainly consider not attend. It’s awful and embarrassing. Let’s move on to the interesting stuff. Stephanie and Marcel… let’s get it on!
[3pm]
By the way, find the official live blog here: http://www.dld-conference.com/weblog/
Now starting: Smart boys on new markets Let’s see how smart they are. ;)
[3.55pm]
Yes, they’re smart. Hubert Burda says: The key is in technology. And Europe lacks the speed and ability to attract excellent people from all over the world.
All the speakers made interesting remarks but it’s still all very general. So I am looking forward to the next sessions.
[4.50pm]
First personal highlight for today: Tyler Brulé interviewing Martha Stewart.
Wow… she has an iPhone of course and a n enourmus Nikon camera. What else is in her suitcase? A Kindle, Sony Vaio, a million chargers.
She talks about her work, and drops a lot of brand names. What product she uses for what task and how great they are. See her blog if you wanna know more: http://blogs1.marthastewart.com/martha/
So Martha Stewart was a bit spooky, Paolo Coelho was nice and interesting… and my battery was down. Meaning: No more writing for that day… ;)
Oh, and Tyler Brulé went from highlight to disappointment of the day. The only highlight in the talk was Martha Stewart talking about Tyler’s great Monocle and “his other magazine”! (Meaning of course Wallpaper magazine…)
Quote of the day goes to Martha! -End-
