DLD 08 2nd Day
We did a smooth start this morning as we were totally exhausted yesterday. So we are now, after some interesting thoughts that investors shared with us, looking forward to hear something about Markets of Mobility.
Here’s the basic points of René Obermann’s keynote speech:
From Pioneer to Defender
The next step: mobile services catching up with fixed line broadband solutions
Voice -> text -> rich media
He believes in the increasing value of ‘digital furniture’ through storing of content (like music from iTunes)…
He says that there is no technical/logical reason for people to go home for receiving a message
Mobile internet is not yet here…
There’s no limit on the ‘need for speed’ of internet connections
The role of Telekom is not content production but content management
[12am]
Discussion starts…
Viviane Reding talks about access to technology and how to provide it to as many people as possible.
Viviane Reding says the next move in creating complete mobility is on the carriers. They should drop the prices for data services and roaming. The audience applauds (of course) while René Obermann makes an unheard comment.
