One Day in Philadelphia or ‘Lessons learned the Hard Way’

Posted in English, Out of Town by SEMIR on the April 21st, 2008

It was a day full of sunshine, relaxed walks and the culture galore in the city of brotherly love.
Nevertheless we learned some lessons along the way:

Lesson #1: Never trust a Chinese woman while she is selling you a ticket.

When Simon and me wanted to take the next ride back home from Philadelphia later (about 8.20pm) we realized that there where indeed buses going every hour - until 8pm, that is. All the guy behind the window did was barking “10.30!! 10.30!! 10.30!!” at people in the hall and on the phone. He was off the hook - and laughing at him didn’t exactly brighten up his mood. So we had the choice of hanging out for two more hours, only to arrive in Manhattan at 12.30am or to buy another one way ticket. We took the 9 o’clock bus home.

Lesson #2: Framboise is French for raspberry!

When Simon ordered a Belgian Beer with the seductive name ‘Framboise’ it was just too easy to hop on the train and order the same. What we got was not really a beer though. More a Raspberry Spritzer or whatever…

More to come as soon as I remember again. Meanwhile a classic for your convenience and entertainment:
